Nina, who was originally an avid a member of the London gothic scene, began sewing her doll’s clothes from leftover fabric scraps at the age of eight. She continued to develop her skills and later successfully sold her own custom, handmade, original design bone-top and lace corsets to her high school chums for party money. After finishing her education, she spent time as a seamstress for Homberg’s Theatrical Costumiers in Leeds, England but was earning her bread and butter in IT. Fortunately, she was seduced by the burlesque world after watching a Miss Beeby performance in an Amsterdam supper club. Inspired, she returned to her beloved sewing machine, began designing her own burlesque costumes and set up the Love Burlesque boutique. An enterprising spirit, she now not only hand sews her Bite Me! Couture items, she also shares her skills with others, offering classes from her home base in the Netherlands on basic sewing, sewing from commercial patterns and on the art of creating original and custom patterns.
