Barcelona-based designer Bibian Blue and her label of the same name is one of the international burlesque, pin up, steampunk and gothic corsetry community’s greatest jewels; like a rare and unique diamond hand-cut to perfection in a pile of rough stones.

Working from more than 50 patterns and inspired by a myriad of periods and styles, all Bibian Blue corsets are original, highly feminine and drop-dead glamorous.

Started originally in 2000, Bibian Blue’s fashion collections were instantly recognized by the European underground and by 2001 she opened a retail showroom in Spain. Fast-forward through several years of designing for several Spanish celebrities to 2007 when Bibian Blue launched her own Barcelona boutique-atelier and website.

Bibian Blue’s education in graphic design and make-up artistry is apparent when you visit her gorgeous site and her corsets and fashions are conveniently categorized for easy viewing. Click on “Burlesque” and you are sent to a page with 11 striking corset sets from “Pink Nuit”, a steel-bone, back-lace vision in dark pink, black and gold brocade and feathers with matching bolero and hand-sewn skirt for €580 to the double-lined “Cherie” under bust in pink or red glitter fabric with black ribbon and red garters for €150.

Choose “Pin Up” and have your selection of 8 rockabilly and Victorian outfits like the ”Amy”, a complete maid outfit in black and pink leatherette for €130 or the Bordeaux lace corset “Wendy Rose” for €160. Under “X-treme” fall 13 styles, from dominatrix to full fetish and in the “Glamour” section are 14 sumptuous corsets including my favorite, the Bordeaux lace “China Doll” with simply beautiful matching bolero and sleeves for a total of €470. For those committed to living in high-style, visit the “Dress Couture” section with 15 unbelievable outfits, complemented by the “Bridal” area with 4 stunning gowns.

Certainly, the prices are steep but only because they reflect the quality of design and craftsmanship in each piece, and custom orders are available. All items on the site are available internationally; the prices are in Euros and payments are accepted through PayPal, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. In-stock orders are sent immediately; otherwise there is a 3 to 6 week wait. Items can only be exchanged for other Bibian Blue creations with a valid reason and within 15 days of receipt.
